I feel this a lot—it’s important to me to honor the commitments to myself (fun, goofing off, etc) as much as the commitments to others, but sometimes the best thing to do for myself is to let my self-commitments go (ESPECIALLY if they’re driven by, as you say, “what’s expected”).
